Assembly
elections took place on June 4. Congress won 21 of the 40 seats
and have formed the Government. Luizhino Faleiro is CM. Dr Wilfred
D'Souza won the Saligao seat for the Goa Rajiv Congress Party.
However, the expectation is that this Government will collapse
within months.
CM
Faleiro has stripped the Chief Secretary of most of his powers
and requested the Central Government to replace him.
A
BBC journalist filed a complaint with the Police of being raped
by two men whilst on holiday in Goa. The accused were arrested
but the victim is too traumatised to visit Goa for the trial.
The culprits are therefore likely to freed.

cartoonist and caricaturist, whose work features widely in the
Goan press, is currently visiting UK from Goa. He exhibited at
the Siolim Social, the Jubilee room at the House of Commons and
the Shell Centre and expects to be in London for another week.
