CM Faleiro revealed to the Assembly details about a survey conducted by the police on child sex abuse. He said that during the past nine years, 62 cases had been registered in the State.

Goa's Police Inspector Anita Rodrigues, the ‘Iron Lady of Goa’ and Joao Rodrigues have been selected to participate in the World Veteran Athletic Meet to be held at Gateshead, UK, 28 July - 8 Aug 1999 .

The proposal for the creation of a separate tourist police force for Goa, was turned down by the Government of India.
