On Nov. 16 Laura Albuquerque, aged 4, was kidnapped at Dona Paula. She was living with her mother, Fatima. Her father, Harold Albuquerque, is a British national. The parents are involved in a custody tussle in a pending divorce suit. The Goa newspapers report that it is suspected that Harold Albuquerque who had gone to Goa from the UK on 25 Oct., is involved.

The Government is "seriously considering" setting up a super-speciality treatment facility in Goa for heart patients.

Approaches have been made to foreign companies to set up a state-of-the-art food processing park at Keri ( Ponda).

The State Transport Authority has recommended 50 per cent concession on bus fares to senior citizens of 60 years and above.

Representatives of Travel and Tourism Association of Goa, TTAG, met the Director General of Police, Mr R S Sahay, to discuss various issues: 1. Black and yellow cabs at the airport charging exorbitant amounts from the passengers 2. Establishing police booths at places of tourist presence 3. Menace created by the beach parties and drug trafficking along the coastal belts 4.. Traffic and road improvements. 5 TTAG to assist and supplement the police force in preparing a list of respectable, committed citizens, to act as ‘Wardens’ with powers to enforce the law. 6. TTAG also offered to provide a special ‘Grievance Cell’, which would gather information/complaints from the tourists and/or service providers and pass it on to the police for necessary action.
