Sardinha
Ousted. Barely 11 months ago Sardinha broke away from the ruling
Congress Part under Faleiro and formed the Government with the
help of the BJP. Whilst Sardinha was in Australia last week, promoting
Tourism and visiting his nephew, Manohar Parrikar the BJP leader,
induced most of Sardinha's supporters, including Cabinet Ministers,
to join him in defeating Sardinha. Sardinha cut short his Australian
trip and at first refused to resign, claiming that he had the
majority of the 20 seat Assembly. However, his weak position became
apparent to him on Tuesday, 24 Oct. and he resigned. Manohar Parrikar
is the new Chief Minister, the 13th in the last 13 years. Sadly,
defections have become the order of the day. See:
