The Pune-based Sakal group has bought the "Gomantak Times" newspaper from the Chowgules However, the existing mastheads, staff and editorial policy will continue.

Goa was shaken awake by an earthquake of moderate intensity at 6.03 am on September 5. The tremor lasted for about 20 seconds, measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale, but caused no serious damage.

We had Jerry, a man of saintly patience, who spent 10 days trailing in and out with pots of fresh decaf coffee, extra blankets and fizzy mineral water.
