From Flavio Gracias GOA Sports Day 2001. Sadly it was a wash-out
on Sunday 19th August. Attempts to re-schedule it have proved
unsuccessful and the event has now been CANCELLED. However, those
who attended on this very rainy day, enjoyed an impromptu social
occasion with music provided by Mariano Gonsalves. The highlight
of the afernoon was a rendition by Basilio Magno of the song he
composed for GOA Day (which was an International celebration),
entitled 'Proud to be a Goan'.

LOOKING FOR
From:
Lisa Dias-Noronha: I am studying Sociology at the Open University,
UK. This year, my course is on 'family and community history in
the 19th and 20th Century'. For my project assignment, due on
10th Sept. 2001, I need some 'live data' on immigration of Goans
to the UK. If you have immigrated between 1945 and 1999, and are
willing to tell me some of your early experiences as an immigrant,
I would be most grateful if you contacted me via email. I would
then e-mail you a questionnaire and survey. Thank you very much.

Aug. The Daily Telegraph. Chorizo gets a slice of the foodie action
…"Even Indian chefs are introducing chorizo. During his 'Salaam
Bombay' festival, Mehernosh Mody of La Portes Des Indes served
a Goan sausage masala, which featured chorizo, slow-cooked for
three hours until meltingly soft with a rich spiced tomato and
onion sauce. The humble chorizo has certainly travelled a long
way."

it probably is if you compare it to 30 years ago. But the Goans
