He was said to have concocted a bizarre bogus bio-terror scheme because he couldn't afford the airfare home. Fuller report at: http://www.newsday.com/news/printedition/ny-nyhoax082453798nov08.story

13 Nov. Evening Standard. Given that he's got £700 million in the bank, you wouldn't think Sir Paul McCartney would be that bothered about trotting out Driving Rain, his 15th solo album. Money is one thing, motivation is another. He found most of his on holiday - most of the 15 songs here were inspired by reminiscences of India, trips to Goa, Arizona and daydreams of the New York skyline…

14 Nov. The Birmingham Post. Mira Nair's new film, Monsoon Wedding has just been featured at the London and Birmingham Film Festivals. She spoke of the moment she heard that an X-ray machine at an airport has all but wiped clean several reels of film. 'I'd just spent three days relaxing in Goa after completing the film, so fortunately I was in a state of bliss when I heard.'

14 Nov. Evening Standard. Trams. 30 Rivington Street EC2. … a new venue billing itself as a 'mix between a trendy West End bar, a gastro-pub and an Indian restaurant'… The food is OK but nothing to write home about: we tried a selection of the Indian menu's starters, which steered clear of greasiness but were unremarkable; a Goan shrimp curry, described as mild, had so much heat it was hard to distinguish other flavours…
