Goans got a sharp wake-up call from globally- noted architect
Charles Correa, who asked them not to let sentimentality hinder
their understanding of the Goan identity, and instead allow it
to grow "into what it wants to become". http://www.goacom.com/news/news2001/dec/msg00078.html

Dec. St. Petersburg Times. Our Favourite Pictures. Along the shores
of the Indian Ocean, a cow finds a feast. Carrie Pratt: This photograph
was taken during my vacation this year in Goa, India. In that
sub-continent, cows have complete freedom of where they want to
be and nobody can push them around. When I saw this, it struck
me as funny that this cow wanted to be at the Indian Ocean eating
fruit peelings out of a beer box.

Jan. Remix. Article on DJ Goa Gil the 50-year-old techno shaman
so integral to the birth of Goa trance. Gil set out in 1969 on
a journey that led him to Anjuna in the Indian state of Goa, where,
throughout the '70s, he oversaw a gathering spot called the Music
House. There, jet-set nomads, vagabond hippies, and dedicated
travelers gathered during the Christmas holidays and full moons
to party, make music, and exchange stories. The influence of the
early Goa-trance scene on Western dance culture cannot be underestimated.539
