From Flavio Gracias: Goan Crewmen
Released On Bail. Following a hearing at Bow Street Magistrates
Court on Tue. 15 April 2003, the legal arguments relating to the
extradition request from the Bahamas Government could not be completed
and the case had to be adjourned. The G.O.A representatives present
in Court requested the solicitors acting for the three Goan men
to press for their release on bail. Two of the men are in the
care of Melvyn Fernandes, the Welfare Director of the GOA, whilst
the third is being looked after by a friend in Merseyside. The
Goan Association UK would like to receive offers of hospitality
from members of the community during what will probably be a protracted
stay in the UK. Contact Melvyn Fernandes
on 020 - 8239 6962, or email him on GOAWELFARE1@activemail.co.uk
The G.O.A. would also like to express its grateful thanks to the
respective solicitors for sparing no effort in looking after their
clients' interests.
