Jul. Frederick Noronha writes on the extraordinary quest of Melvyn
Misquita, a Goa journalist, in piecing together the fate of the
40 Goans who were on board the S.S. Britannia, which was sunk
on the West African coast by the Germans in 1941. One of the lifeboats
drifted to Brazil with a Goan survivor, Louis Albino de Souza
of Aldona. Misquita even discovered an 83-year-old vice-admiral
in Britain who knew the Goans on board. He has also had queries
from USA and UK who have had relatives serving on the Britannia.
