From Gabe Menezes: This is in
regard to an earlier email published on Goanet concerning Monies
given to Bishops. I attended the G.O.A. (U.K.) Ltd A.G.M today.
A letter sent to them by Bishop Philip Neri was mentioned. The
money given to his Lordship has been donated to a charity in Goa.
I am sorry for any hurt and damage this might have caused the
Bishop, the Church in Goa and persons involved in this. I further
accept that it was never the Bishop's intention to retain the
money and apparently he was taken aback with the donation made
to him.

ANSA news service (Italy). India Tourist Boom For Christmas. By
Roberto Scarfone. Excerpts: On the eve of this year's Christmas
celebrations, all hotels and hostels in the city of Goa, southwestern
India, are full, leaving the adventurous the alternative of a
two-dollar per night beach hut where they can celebrate an unconventional
Christmas party bathing their feet in the Arabian Sea. Goa is
a remarkable 16th-century city with a very low standard of living,
endless beaches and a marvellous sea. The traces of Christian
culture left by the Portuguese city founders blends with local
Hindu temples and traditions. Cheap beach huts lie alongside luxurious
hotels, which have made the city one of the most sophisticated
tourist centres in the world.
