Francis read Maths. at Oxford, was a lecturer at City University, plays badminton, squash and the classical guitar and is a member of the Aldona Association, UK. He is the son of Joe (Aldona) and Teresa (Cortalim) Fernandes of Edgware and ex-Nairobi. His brother Norbert is a parish priest in Fulham. Bromley News Shopper, 5 Jun. Chess prodigy Richard Lobo, aged 11 has been picked to represent England. The whiz-kid of Lynwood Grove, Orpington, will play in a match against Holland on June 28. [Richard attends Holy Innocents' School. He began playing aged four after his dad showed him the game.   In Dec. 1999 at the Old Bailey, Mario Pereira of Edmonton, London, was found guilty of the murder of Michael Menson and sentenced to life imprisonment. He has maintained his innocence and his family have mounted a campaign in his support. 2 Jun. NDTV.com. Anthony Gonsalves is credited for changing the face of Hindi film music by introducing the orchestral movements in the early 1950s. He left the industry in 1965 for the United States to pursue the study of symphonic music. Today 75-year-old Gonsalves lives a relatively unknown existence with his family, tucked away in his ancestral home in Majorda in Goa. For more text click here

29 May. Taunton Times. Lizzy Evans will be at the Buckingham Palace Garden party on July 17 after completing the Duke of Edinburgh gold award. Her residential project was based in an orphanage in Goa. She said, "I was able to see how lucky children in the western world are in comparison and seeing their conditions was enough to reduce you to tears." For more text click here.

30 May. The Sydney Morning Herald. Eric Chapus has made a reputation as a dance musician. His parents split up when he was 10. At 13 he dropped out of school and went to live with his father in Goa. "I thought he was the coolest thing," says Chapus. "[He was in Goa] just taking lots of drugs and he introduced me to lots of drugs at 13. We were living in the streets, living like beggars. It was really an eye-opener. We buried our passports and lived for one year like total vagrants. We took a lot of drugs, smoked a lot of hash and I had a bad experience with LSD."

She was recently honoured at the annual Women of the Year Awards. Her main interest is to make women from other cultures feel more comfortable. This tropical land is dotted with 167 whitewashed Roman Catholic churches.
