Aly was found guilty, he was immediately freed and put on a plane
back to his home in Egypt. He is there now, a free man. Keith

Nov. Travel Trade Gazette UK. Three articles in this issue
refer to Manuel Mascarenhas,
head of Sales at Thomas Cook Signature. He talks about a
new selling system which being introduced; a fear that mass-market
operators will slash prices in January and an admission
that the Company is dogged by being "inaccessible"
- both in pricing and means of booking its holidays.
Manuel Mascarenhas moved to the UK from Uganda in 1967 with
his Goan parents and attended school in Sidcup, Kent. As
a family man with two daughters, Mr Mascarenhas also puts
his negotiating skills to good use as a marriage counsellor.

Nov. Herald. Headline: The Gazelle comes home for a short
graze. By Fred Noronha, Seraphino
Antao, antao_s@hotmail.com
the fastest Goan in the world and the man who won a double-gold
for Kenya in the Commonwealth Games in Australia in 1962,
is now 66 years old and back on a quiet private visit to
Goa, returning from London after over two decades. The Antaos
were quite sports minded. Germano Antao was a big name in
sports, and my cousin Effie Antao played football for Kenya.
Pascoal Antao played for Salgaocars years back, and his
son Trevor is also a good footballer. My sister, Iggy (Ignaciana)
Antao, was also a good sprinter, while my brother Rosario
was a long-jumper.

From
Nina Pinto: Incessant rain
did not deter the faithful who braved the weather to attend
the 76th Commemoration Mass of Venerable
Fr Agnelo at St George’s Cathedral, Southwark
on Sunday 23rd November 2003. Just under 300 devotees attended
the solemn High Mass, celebrated by the Patron of the Friends
of Venerable Fr Agnelo – the Rt Rev Bishop Charles
Henderson, who stressed in his homily the need for prayer
and to realise that the beatification will happen in “God’s
own time”.
The Mass was followed by a get-together at the adjacent
Amigo Hall. In his opening address the Chairman of the Friends
of Ven Fr Agnelo, Rev Deacon Braz Menezes, spoke of the
growing influence of Fr Agnelo on Goans living abroad and
stated that although ten prayer centres have been established
in and around the UK, more are required. He stressed the
importance of prayer in achieving the objective of our very
own Goan Saint. Deacon Braz Menezes also presented Rev Fr
Oliver Antao, the Pilar Representative, with a cheque for
£200 towards the Seminarian Fund. |
