By Rosemary Behan. My first encounter with the British holiday
hooligan was in Goa four years ago. Four yobs arrived at the hotel
I was staying at, draped a Union flag over the balcony, plugged
in a ghetto-blaster and turned up the volume. Then they decamped
to the swimming pool, where they shouted at the staff to bring
drinks. Too lazy to walk a quarter of a mile to the nearest beach,
they amused themselves by throwing the hotel cat into the swimming
pool. No one who saw this said or did anything, because for years
this type of behaviour has been tolerated, excused, even indulged.
