Florida: Golfers agree to apologize to Aubrey Ferrao

3 Jun: Naples Daily News (Florida). Five current and former members of The Golf Club at Fiddler’s Creek who accused the developer, Aubrey Ferrao, of embezzling $10 million in deposits have agreed to drop their lawsuit and publish an apology… Ferrao’s attorney, Joe Parisi said, “Mr. Ferrao was 30 years in the business and never had a single claim lodged against him about dishonesty,” … Ferrao is the founder and president of Fiddler’s Creek LLC, an affiliate of the Gulf Bay Group of Cos.… Ferrao invested $43 million of his family’s money to reorganize, and the company emerged from bankruptcy … About 4,000 homes have yet to be built in the 15-year-old, 4,000-acre development …  click here

Goa likely to hike fares of auto-rickshaws, tour buses
12 Jun: PTI. Goa’s state transport authority (STA) has recommended to hike the fares of auto-rickshaws, motorcycle pilots and tour buses … The three-wheeler auto-rickshaws which were charging Rs 18.75 per kilometre will now charge Rs 20… A similar hike is recommended for tour buses where the fare would be up by 15 per cent while motorcycle pilots, a unique mode of transport to the state, will now be charging extra fee for the late night travels…  click here

Maryland, USA: Peter D'Souza: Hope House opens 'new chapter'

Kenny D'Cruz: Male depression - we must let boys cry

12 Jun: The Guardian (UK). … One active participant in Men's Health Week is a consultant and men's group co-ordinator called Kenny D'Cruz… His story has interactions between mental health, gender, race, class and social status. Born in Uganda to a Goan family, he was eight years old when his father had to be smuggled out of the country. Kenny, his younger brother and mother had to travel to Britain as refugees … Kenny was told by his father: "You are the head of the family now, you must look after your brother and mother."… he carried the demand through months of refugee detention centres and a relocation to an impoverished new life in an all-white Welsh village. Britain Asked to Simplify Visas for Indians
6 Jun: Migration Expert. Annual foreign office consultations in New Delhi. Indian Foreign Secretary Rajan Mathai met with UK Permanent Under Secretary Simon Fraser for the consultations… India asked to simplify UK visas for businessmen and students in order to enhance investment between the two countries. Parrikar to meet PM today over special status, financial package
